What inspired you to become a developer/builder? Take us through your journey.

Growing up, I was always fascinated by how spaces come together, from the foundation to the final details. I started in commercial construction, learning each step on a large scale. Over time, I felt a drive to create homes that blend functionality with beautiful design. As my experience grew, I saw an opportunity to craft homes with a focus on luxury and innovation, which led me into development. My journey has been about balancing creativity with practicality, always pushing to make each project better than the last.

What areas of town do you like to build in? What do you look for in a potential site?
I’m drawn to areas with character—neighborhoods with rich history or unique landscapes, places where a new home can complement the surroundings while bringing a fresh perspective. When evaluating a site, I look for accessibility, natural beauty, and potential for customization that allows us to create a standout project that will enhance the area and serve our clients’ lifestyles.  Sometimes the toughest sites yield the best results!

What has been the most challenging project you’ve undertaken and how did you overcome those obstacles?
One of the most challenging projects we undertook involved designing a pool house that seamlessly blended with an existing pool and home, both in style and functionality. The main obstacle was creating a structure that didn’t just complement the home’s aesthetic but also felt like a natural extension of the outdoor space. To overcome this, we focused on mirroring architectural details from the main house, such as rooflines, materials, and color schemes, so the pool house felt like a cohesive addition rather than a standalone structure. We also carefully considered the flow between the pool, pool house, and main residence, ensuring the layout allowed for easy transitions and sightlines that maintained an open, inviting feel. By working closely with landscape architects, we integrated surrounding greenery and outdoor features to further unify the space, resulting in a pool house that felt harmonious with the existing home and enhanced the overall backyard experience.

What emerging trends do you see, and how are you incorporating them into your projects?
Right now, there's a strong emphasis on creating multifunctional spaces and prioritizing energy efficiency. We’re integrating these trends by designing flexible areas that can evolve with homeowners’ needs, and we’re incorporating energy-saving technologies and sustainable materials wherever possible to create homes that are both modern and environmentally conscious.

What’s Next for Vertical Management Group?
As I look to the future, I’m excited to see Vertical Management Group continue expanding our reach and impact. We’re taking on an even wider range of projects, including affordable housing renovations and new builds, as well as tenant improvement work, which allows us to make a meaningful impact across Denver. It’s rewarding to bring quality and innovation to each project, and I’m looking forward to seeing how we can continue to shape the landscape and meet the needs of our growing community.

Project Highlight:
One of our standout projects is the speakeasy-inspired basement for which we’re honored to be a finalist in the MAME Awards. This space was designed from scratch to capture a timeless, intimate vibe while incorporating all the modern luxuries. It’s not just a room but an experience—every detail was carefully selected to bring a sense of history and exclusivity to the space, making it one of the most unique and memorable areas we’ve created.
